Starting a Blog – First Steps
Sep 28th, 2008 by Val Nelson
If you’re thinking about blogging, here are some great resources to help you in the beginning stages.
First, be sure to figure out if blogging is for you and is it worth it.
Time to Choose Your Blogging Software
So, you’ve decided to go for it. You’re about to publish your thoughts on the web! Congratulations. Now it’s time to choose your blogging software.
Creating and posting to your blog is relatively easy, even if you aren’t technically inclined. Beginners will need to choose the most user-friendly software and options.
What blogging software should you use? It’s possible to switch midstream if you choose wrong at first, but there are drawbacks to switching. Take time to choose the right one for you. These short articles should help you choose:
- Very basic look at the blogging software options
- An indepth comparison between WordPress and TypePad (your most likely top choices)
- WordPress.com vs WordPress.org
I chose WordPress.org after checking out the others and I’m still very happy with it. Everyone’s needs are different so it’s worth deciding which is right for you.
